This is a direct hire position.

Talis Group’s client is a highly successful local company in the construction industry. This talented team works on many of the most visible heavy construction projects in the region. Talis Group is assisting the company to find an experienced Estimator to join this close-knit Southern Indiana team. This Estimator is responsible for the preparation of construction estimates for highway/transportation, water/pipe and heavy civil projects of diverse sizes. Field/construction job site experience along with heavy highway estimating experience is needed to succeed in this position. Competitive salary ($80k - $100k range) and employee benefit package offered. This company has an incredible work environment with many tenured employees. 

Job Requirements

Highlighted Duties:

  • Review project plans, requirements and specifications; analyze scope of work and produce comprehensive quantity take-offs and materials pricing
  • Develop and reconcile detailed cost estimates (including bid documents) from conceptual through construction
  • Conduct project site visits, attend pre-bid site meetings to learn scope of work and understanding of site conditions/restrictions
  • Identify issues and assist project teams with resolutions throughout the phases of project
  • Work closely with Clients, Vendors, Subcontractors and Project Managers with regard to cost estimating activities
  • Develop preliminary construction schedules

Highlighted Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in civil engineering, construction management or equivalent work experience in related fields
  • 10+ years highway estimating experience on heavy highway and heavy civil projects
  • Strong analytical ability; extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles
  • Well organized, flexible, detail oriented with an excellent ability to multi-task
  • Prioritize work load and consistently meet deadlines with changing tasks and demands for multiple projects
  • Travel within a 50-mile radius (no overnights needed)
  • Scheduling experience
  • Excellent written, oral, listening, presentation, influence, and interpersonal skills
